Enter a mid-market reference and your actual PayPal exchange-rate quote to compare converted amounts and the difference. Rates are user-supplied, not a live PayPal feed.
Modeled rule: user-fx-quote (user-fx-quote, vsimulation-v1)
Evidence Layer
This calculator is intentionally modeled. It compares a user-supplied mid-market rate with a user-supplied PayPal rate rather than pretending the site is fetching a live exchange feed.

Evidence Mode
Use your own current mid-market reference and PayPal rate to estimate spread loss. This keeps the tool transparent instead of disguising stale FX inputs as live official data.
Coverage
This page is for conversion math, not just fee explanation. It is most useful when a payment also includes a currency-conversion decision.
Official Source Pages
The US APM row covers only the all-other-APMs tier, not named payment methods or payment links and buttons. Check the official schedule for those products.
If the source and target currencies are the same, the calculator treats conversion loss as zero.
Transaction fee is optional and stays in source currency so the total source-side cost remains easy to interpret.
Rate direction: 1 USD = this many EUR. The starting rates are examples, not current quotes. Use a reference and PayPal quote for the same currency pair and time.

With hypothetical USD/EUR rates of 0.90 at mid-market and 0.87 from PayPal, converting $100 yields 87,00 € instead of 90,00 €, a 3,00 € difference. This compares two example quotes, not a universal PayPal conversion fee.
Modeled example, not live exchange rates. No payment processing fee is included. Your actual PayPal quote, currency pair and conversion timing determine the result.

PayPal provides a currency calculator in Wallet. Check the quote for your transaction and enter it alongside a mid-market reference. This tool does not retrieve or verify either rate. Where to find PayPal exchange rates.
The calculator separates conversion spread from optional transaction fee so you can see what part of the cost comes from FX rather than payment processing.
Reverse mode is better when you know the target currency amount you need and want to work backward to the source amount.
These pages help when conversion is only one part of a broader PayPal pricing question.
Read the guide page when you want the conceptual explanation behind the conversion spread first.
Use the international calculator when the payment fee and cross-border surcharge also matter, not just FX.
Review the methodology page if you need to understand why this page is modeled rather than claimed as a live official FX feed.
Return to the main calculator when the original payment fee itself is still the main problem to solve.
Compare the result at a mid-market rate with the result at a PayPal rate. The difference between the two conversion outputs is the spread loss.
